Yesterday, this article told you how to disable driver signing in Windows 7 using the command line. It turns out that Windows provides options to disable driver.

HKLM SOFTWARE Microsoft Driver Signing

Specifies how the system responds when a user tries to install device driver files that are not digitally signed.

Ignore. The installation proceeds, even if it includes unsigned files.

Warn. The system notifies the user that files are not digitally signed, and it prompts the user to decide whether to stop the installation or to proceed with it and permit unsigned files to be installed.

Block. The system will not install unsigned files. As a result, the installation stops, and none of the files in the driver package are installed.

This entry applies to all users of the computer. However, if a stricter setting is configured for the current user in Policy Entry in HKCU or a user Group Policy setting establishes a stricter setting in BehaviorOnFailedVerify, then this value is ignored for the current user.

This entry stores the option selected in the File signature verification section of the Driver Signing Options dialog box when the Apply setting as system default box is selected. If the box is not selected, then the selection applies only to the current user, and it is stored in the value of Policy Entry in HKCU SOFTWARE Microsoft Driver Signing.

To change the value of this entry, use System in Control Panel. Click the Hardware tab, click Driver Signing, select an option in the File signature verification section, and then click the Apply setting as a system default box.

This entry applies to all users of the computer. The Policy entry also can appear in HKCU for a particular user.

This will disable your Windows 7 driver signing. If this did NOT work for you, here is another way to disable Windows 7 driver signing. Method 2. 1.

Hi, I m running Windows 7 64 Bit Home Edition and so do not have the gpedit.msc option. The other command line ones haven t worked for me either. Are there any solutions other than pressing f8 on launch. Doing that does work so i m confident in the driver

i ve got for my Netgear Network card - but it isn t digitally signed so won t load without disabling this.

I tried this method, but it seems not working even I select ignore in dropbox, the digital signature issue still exists after reboot. According the comments along with that code singing item in Policy setting, it only supports up to Windows xp, could

you please provide other solutions for Vista/Win 7 64-bit.

I try cmd prompt and the gpedit method none of they work for me. I using Win 7 Pro 64bits. I ever try to remove it in regedit.exe method and also useless. To make those drivers which don t have the signutare will be very troublesome. Get to press F8, everytime

turning on to the PC. Instead going to safe mode, you will select something ca;ll disable ditial signutare. Then the drivers can work properly.

The following did not work for me on win 7 64-bit with service pack

bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING ON

bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS

editing the driver options in GPEDIT.MSC made no difference.

One of the above worked, but required a power cycle. I am not sure which one exactly though.

I need to fix what I just said, one of the three things below worked WITH A POWER CYCLEbut i am not sure which one exactly.

If no signed driver exists, and you are aware of the risks in using unsigned drivers, accepting responsibility for any problems it causes, there is a Policy setting available to turn off the requirement.

Click start, and type gpedit.msc

ENABLE the option for code signed drivers at:

User Config/Admin Templ./System/Driver installation

then set the drop box to Ignore

I had a Dell Latitude E6230 laptop with issues with audio since the new OS has been installed Windows 7 Enterprise. I check Bios, drivers, windows updates, dell website and apply a huge troubleshooting, without solution.

Fortunately, after all drivers were disabled and uninstalled, I see a message related with signed drivers.

I follow your procedure, allowing unsigned drivers. And now I was able to install the audio in the laptop without any problem. Thank you..
